National Spotlight Shines On The National Museum of Military Vehicles

One of the nation’s newest world-class museums is right on Riverton’s doorstep.

The award-winning National Museum of Military Vehicles contains nearly 500 military vehicles, artillery pieces, naval vessels and planes dating from the late 1800s to the present. Visitors can find fully-restored vehicles used in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.

The museum’s grand opening in the spring of 2022 drew national attention. Tripadvisor recognized it as their 2022 Traveler’s Choice award winner, Laura Ingraham featured it on Fox News Nation in her Hidden Gems series, InsideHook listed it in their Best New Museums list, and it was featured on CNET in January of 2023.

How do you make the perfect trip? The National Museum of Military Vehicles is located in the small town of Dubois WY, an hour drive from Riverton. This makes Riverton the perfect place to launch your adventure as it offers a wider variety of places to stay and dining options

While you’re here, the Riverton area offers other museums, recreation activities, and special deals and packages. It’s easy to fit into a weekend trip, or part of a bigger vacation as you make your way up to Yellowstone.

Whether you’re visiting in July for the Mountain Man Rendezvous, in the winter for an ice fishing derby, or any event in between, adding a stop to the National Museum of Military Vehicles is a no-brainer.

During the summer, they’re open seven days a week. They operate under reduced hours in the winter, so check their website for hours when you’re planning your trip.
